John Dippies well.
John Dippies well. This memorial stone sits beside the road on the southern upland way in the Lammermuirs. The inscription on the stone reads ... "There is no water in the Lammermuirs sweeter than at John Dippies well. Keeper at Rawburn 1865 1897". It is said that he went before his shooting parties and sweetened the water with whisky!
